    1. Online: 12 Weeks - Book Assignment & Weekly online log-in quizzes. After completing all quizzes, Externship will begin at a Walgreen near you for 4 weeks Mon-Fri 40 hours per week (160 hours total).

    2. The course cost is 1,800. Payment Plan - 600.00 each month for 3 months.

    Students Will Perform Their Externships At Walgreens Pharmacy

    The pharmacy Technician training program prepares student for the National PTCB Exam.

    Externship Requirements:
    3-Week Internship - Must Complete 40 Hours Per Week (Total 120 Hours)Externship IS Mandatory (Unless You Are Taking The PTCB Exam Upon Completion of Program) And The Following Must Be Completed Prior To Attending Externship:

    The theory of the course is online and then the Clinical will be performed at Walgreen. Students will complete assignments weekly and will have quizzes weekly. This is a very independent program. We have tutoring for those who require it.

  • PTCB Eligibility:

    To achieve PTCB Certification, candidates must satisfy the following eligibility requirements:
  • Beginning Jan, 2020, PTCB Will Require Those Seeking PTCB Exam To Attend A Training Program Approved By PTCB
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational diploma (e.g., a GED or foreign diploma)*.
  • Full disclosure of all criminal and State Board of Pharmacy registration or licensure actions.
  • Compliance with all applicable PTCB Certification policies.
  • Passing score on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE).


    Is Pharmacy Technician licensure required in Maryland?
    Yes, pharmacy technicians are required to get their license before they can practice in Maryland.

    What should I do to become a License Pharmacy Technician in MD?
    1. Complete an Approve Program and Complete a Pharm Tech Clinical Externship or
    2. Pass the PTCB National Pharmacy Exam (Usually require some experience in the pharmacy)
  • You have to be at least 17 years old or older.
  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent or may be currently enrolled in high school with good academic standing.
  • You must submit a written application requesting registration as a Pharmacy Technician at the Maryland State Board of Pharmacy.
  • You must submit to a criminal background check. You will need to pay an additional fee for that which will cost around $38. Give payment directly to the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System).
  • Include a proof of certification in your application if you are already a certified pharmacy technician.
  • Include the $45 non-refundable registration fee.
